Stewardship: Our Way of Life

What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is acknowledging that everything we have, and all we are able to do, are gifts from God.  Then, taking care of, and sharing those gifts with others, in gratitude.

Who is a Christian Steward?

For this we look to the publication, Stewardship:  A Disciple’s Response; A Pastoral Letter on Stewardship.  This was written by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Ad Hoc Committee on Stewardship in 1992.  This publication is still used today by dioceses throughout the United States.

The Pastoral Letter states:

A Christian Steward is:

  • One who receives God’s gifts gratefully
  • Cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner
  • Shares them in justice and love with others
  • And returns them with increase to the Lord
