Stewardship calls us to distribute the gifts God has given

Everybody has stuff. I don't know whether this comes from prehistoric days when human beings had to gather food and stockpile it for their survival or not. In any case, it seems that everybody collects stuff. Just take a look at all the storage space for rent throughout the state. Rich people have stuff, poor people have stuff and even little babies have stuff (lots of it!).

STEWARDSHIP PRAYER

Oh Lord, giver of life and source of our freedom,
we are reminded by the Psalmist that Yours is
"the earth and its fullness;
the world and those who dwell in it."
We know that it is from Your hand that we
have received all we have and are and will be.
Gracious and loving God, we understand that
You call us to be the stewards of Your abundance,
the caretakers of all You have entrusted to us.
Help us always to use Your gifts wisely
and teach us to share them generously.
May our faithful stewardship bear witness to
the love of Christ in our lives.
We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus' name.

What is Stewardship? Let's begin by stating what Stewardship is not. Stewardship is not about money. It is not a fundraising program. It is not about building a new parish hall. It is not a new fad or environmental word.

Stewardship is a way of life.

• One who receives God's gifts gratefully: Gratitude
• Cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner: Responsibility
• Shares them in justice and love with others: Generosity
• Returns them with increase to the Lord: Returns
