For Youth Ministers

Welcome and Mission:

We welcome all paid or volunteer youth ministers.  And we especially embrace those who may be interested in serving the youth of our Church or who are just happening by this site, relying on God's grace and divine providence to guide us.

We hope this site contains valuable information and resources to assist you and your parish in providing the highest quality youth ministry program.  Youth Ministry is more than simply keeping youth busy or out of trouble.  In fact, it contains no less than 8 dynamic and interrelated facets: Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice and Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care, and Prayer and Worship [1996-Renewing the Vision-USCCB].  All of these are aimed at three main goals:

  1. To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
  2. To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  3. to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Therefore, the resources and topics on this page are not the only way to "do good youth ministry."  Nor, are these resources exhaustive.  Therefore, if you feel something is inappropriate or missing, please let us know.  This site should be a great resource to all those working with youth in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Upcoming Events:

You and your youth will enjoy spiritual, service-minded, and social events from the diocese, local parishes, and the community at large.  View upcoming youth and young adult events here.  View the diocesan calendar here.

Forms and Safe Environment:

Click Here to download the forms required for conducting youth ministry in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.  You may also find the supplementary templates and forms useful for conducting meetings, managing contacts, and planning events.

These forms are necessary to keep the adult leaders and volunteers and the youth safe.  They are only one component of our Diocesan Safe Environment Program.  Click here to learn more about SEP.

Furthermore, all adults (those 18 and over) having regular contact with minors must be in full compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment Program.  This entails passing a criminal background check, successfully completing an online training program, and being familiar with the Diocesan Safe Environment policies.  Follow the link above or contact your local Director of Safe Environment (DSE) or pastor for help and information to assist you in becoming compliant.
