Congratulations to Danielle Quintana!
She was selected as the Diocese of Salt Lake City's nomination for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception's Charity and Social Service Award. Her PowerPoint presentation, depicting the charity and service-filled life she leads, will now be reviewed by the national selection committee. Their final selection will be announced on February 16, 2010. We wish Danielle and all the other dioceses' nominees good luck. Thank you to all the adult leaders who nominated youth as possible candidates for this award. I especially thank each of the extraordinary students who were nominated to me. Lauren TigueThis will be an annual contest (although perhaps in a slightly different format). So, we encourage all students to live faithful lives of service and for adults to submit nominations for next year's award.
2010 CCHD Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest
This is a unique tool for schools and parishes. It engages youth in grades 7 through 12 in learning about the causes of poverty, Catholic social teaching and the work and witness of groups funded by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The 2010 Contest theme is “Empowering Neighborhoods, Uprooting Poverty." All art forms, including YouTube videos, music, painting, drama, writing and PowerPoint slideshows, are welcome.
